On September 9th, we proudly launched our Obulamu Bwe (HerHealth) Workshop Series with an incredible turnout—70 women gathered under our tents for the very first session on ovarian cancer. It was powerful to see so many women eager to learn and begin taking charge of their own health.
We began these workshops because too often in Uganda, women know very little about their bodies and the illnesses that affect them. Medical care is usually focused on testing and treatment, with little explanation about the illness, symptoms, or even the medicines prescribed. We believe women deserve better. Our goal is to change this by creating a welcoming space where women can understand how their bodies function, learn the signs and symptoms to watch for, and explore holistic approaches to health and wellbeing.
Each month, the Obulamu Bwe series will focus on a new health topic. Some sessions will include testing, while others will explore natural and herbal alternatives for treatment. Above all, our mission is to empower women with knowledge, helping them make informed choices, advocate for themselves, and embrace healthier lifestyles.
This project also marks the beginning stages of our vision to establish a Women’s Health Clinic and Birthing Centre. We plan to break ground in early 2026 on a fully functional medical facility with laboratory, ultrasound, theatre, and private birthing suites. The centre will provide both natural and medical diagnosis and treatment, ensuring women have access to safe, holistic, and respectful care throughout every stage of life.
To bring this vision to life, we will need the generosity of donors who can support the building and ongoing operation of the clinic. Every contribution, large or small, helps us move closer to creating a safe space where women can receive the care they deserve. We are also extremely happy to welcome volunteers who may wish to come and work alongside us, sharing their skills and compassion to strengthen this vital initiative.
The success of our first workshop is just the beginning—we look forward to seeing this program grow and lay the foundation for a healthier future for women in our communities.
