Objective

To provide accessible legal support, pursue strategic legal interventions, and prioritize justice for survivors of gender-based violence, rape, and defilement to redress systemic injustices, protect vulnerable communities, and drive structural reform across Uganda and beyond

Using legal advocacy and structured justice mechanisms is a vital pillar of the Daughters of Eve Foundation’s mission to safeguard vulnerable populations, address systemic discrimination, and secure equitable access to justice and essential resources. Within this framework, tackling the pervasive crimes of gender-based violence, rape, and defilement remains an absolute priority, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable and victims receive comprehensive protection and support.

Despite existing legal frameworks, marginalized women and girls frequently encounter severe barriers that prevent them from accessing remedies. These challenges include a lack of legal literacy, prohibitive costs associated with legal representation, deeply entrenched social inequalities, and institutional gaps that fail to protect vulnerable rights holders from infringement, particularly in cases involving sexual violence and exploitation.

Our Approach

The Daughters of Eve Foundation utilizes targeted legal empowerment, pro bono assistance, and strategic advocacy to dismantle discriminatory practices and challenge laws or policies that inhibit community well-being

We work to bridge the justice gap by offering direct legal support to individuals whose rights have been violated, placing special emphasis on securing justice and safety for survivors of rape, defilement, and gender-based violence. To maximize our impact, we collaborate closely with local police forces, government offices, and allied non-governmental organizations to deliver coordinated support for victims and provide specialized training for service providers and duty bearers. Alongside this frontline casework and multi-sectoral collaboration, we pursue broader public interest interventions to foster systemic reform. Through community legal education, partnerships with justice actors, and proactive advocacy, we ensure that the rights of women and girls are recognized, protected, and actively upheld at every level of society.
