Reflecting on Our Journey: Impact, Gratitude, and the Road Ahead
There are days when the weight of the needs around us feels overwhelming, and I catch myself thinking that we are simply not doing enough. The challenges facing vulnerable families, mothers, and elders in our communities are vast, and I often wish we had the resources to move faster, reach wider, and do so much more. Yet, in moments of reflection, when I look at what has been accomplished to date in 2026, I am filled with profound gratitude that we are truly making a tangible impact.
When we step back and look at the numbers, it is a reminder of lives touched and changed. This year alone, the Daughters of Eve Foundation Uganda has distributed 300 mama kits to ensure safe deliveries for mothers and babies, conducted 18 Girl Yogela workshops on menstrual hygiene and body safety, and distributed over 5,000 reusable sanitary pads to keep girls in school and safe from early marriages.
We have built a secure house for an elder in need, provided 50 food care packages and five complete bed kits—including bed frames, mattresses, sheets, blankets, mosquito nets, pillows, chairs, water tanks, and solar lights—to elderly widows, and stepped in to protect three elderly widows facing severe land grab threats from family members trying to chase them off their land.
Our commitment to education and family support has also grown. We secured 45 new members for the organization, distributed school supplies to 100 children of these members across terms 2 and 3, and directly support 7 children with school fees. Through our advocacy centre, we have assisted 16 women with violence cases, alongside teaching eight dedicated workshops focused on preventing violence against women. In our efforts to build sustainable livelihoods, we have trained 45 women in liquid soap making and three women in advanced tailoring.
Beyond our direct community outreach, our impact extends deeply into the livelihoods of our own team. Since our founding in 2022, the organization has been blessed to provide gainful employment to five full-time staff members and one part-time staff member. Crucially, this employment includes housing and medical benefits—life-changing provisions that most of our team members never had before joining us.
To ensure our long-term survival and independence, we launched our sustainability project in January with the creation of Eden Organics. This values-driven social enterprise produces small-batch herbal medicinal teas and tinctures, alongside organic whole-body wellness products like lotions, ointments, soaps, and lip balms. You can find our products at the Uwepo local market in Jinja and at the monthly market held at The Hangout on the first Saturday of every month. Looking ahead to October, we are thrilled to be opening our own shop, Eve’s Closet. There, we will sell our Eden Organics products, second-hand women’s and children’s clothing, and our custom designer clothing line, Upcycled Exposure, which transforms recycled clothes into brand-new fashion pieces.
I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to support Ugandans this way. While the desire to do more will always drive us forward, I am endlessly excited to see what the future holds for us and how much more we can accomplish together in the days to come.
