Ruth

Ruth is one of the first women to receive a Mamma Kit from Daughters of Eve Foundation. She was heavily pregnant when Pheobe first went to visit her. Her husband had been a boda boda (motorcyle driver) but he had been in a terrible accident that left him in the hospital for 6 months. This caused a great deal of stress on the family and with the loss of income they have struggled to survive.

This is Ruth's second marriage and she has older twins that stay with her Mother. Her husband also has children from a previous marriage but they stay with family members also.

Ruth had no way to purchase the supplies she needed to deliver her baby safely, so we helped her by giving her a Mamma kit, blanket, mosquito net and a few onesies for baby. We will continue to visit Ruth and see how we can assist her further.

She is definitely a good candiate for one of the income generating projects that we will be starting soon. As Pheobe and her team continue to work with Ruth they will find something that will work best for her.

She delievered a health baby girl and we are still waiting to hear what she has been named. The last time Pheobe visited just as she had come home from the hospital they were waiting on an Aunt to come to name the baby, as is tradition in their tribe.
